About Me

Olympiapark, Munich

The third person version:

Judith Tewes resides in small town northern Alberta, where she: writes, sings, plays bass guitar in an all-woman band, walks her three crazy labs, and suspects she's living the life of a superhero's alias*.

The self-deprecating first person version that's sure to win you over:

I write. A lot. Novels, short stories, song lyrics / music, flash fiction, angry letters to the editor of our local newspaper that send the entire town into a hissy fit (okay, I haven't done that yet, but it's on my bucket list), screenplays, stage plays, and freelance articles for various journals / magazines.

Charles Bridge at night - Prague.
I have different pen names for the various genres in which I write. Helps with marketing, with emails, and generally with keeping my projects compartmentalized and under control.

I'm a control freak.

I'm also a library technician in an elementary school. My day job consists of books, and literacy, and elementary students.

I have a potty mouth and a tendency to be sarcastic as all get out.

Which makes the day job challenging - never a dull moment - sort of hectic. But I love it and it keeps me young at heart.

My husband is a high school social studies teacher and basketball coach. He's big into politics and history, and the best thing - travel. We've road-tripped across Canada and still have loads of places to explore in this vast country of ours, have celebrated New Years Eve on Waikiki Beach, and have gone on two European tours with grade 10-12 students. And we're always planning more. Not only do I get to see the world and absorb the culture / stories / philosophies - I get to travel with the intended audience of my work. It's a vacation and research trip all in one.
Rockin' my bass. Yup.

We have three crazy labs, because - well - we're a bit insane that way. We love them like they're our kids. But we can put them in a crate for a time out....I don't think that's allowed with children.

The cut to the chase version:

I love writing, reading, music, photography, and film. How about you?
